You know that stereotypical image of a piano teacher - a cruel old lady that forces useless exercises and irrelevant repertoire on you. Well, what if piano lessons didn’t have to be like that? What if learning the piano or keyboard could be fun, challenging, engaging and enjoyable? What if the practise you had to do was relevant enough to not just be practise you have to do, but practise you want to do?
Whether you’ve never played before or have been playing for years, and no matter what genre of music you are interested in, I am the piano teacher to help. My goal is to make my students into well rounded musicians; for me, teaching piano & keyboard is more than getting the right notes in the right places. There are skills such as understanding music theory, learning how to communicate with other musicians, performance techniques, and learning both by listening as well as reading, that are vital to a rounded understanding of music.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a total beginner or want a fresh take on your instrument, child or adult, and if you want to do exams or not - I make sure to shape my lessons to you, taking into consideration the things you are passionate about alongside your areas for improvement. If you or your child is starting to loose interest in learning music, then changing teacher could be just the spark of excitement they need to find their passion again, or even for the first time.
Lessons take place in your home on the piano/keyboard you practise with. My rates are:
£18 for 30 minutes
£32 for 60 minutes
